Riding in the Andes is generally very pleasant. However when we are near the snowline of a volcano or crossing a high mountain pass things can change. I have been at 15,000 feet and stripped down to a t-shirt. I've also been at 13,000 feet caught without a good jacket or clothing to layer on and freezing. The most important thing to have other than the required equipment is a good waterproof & vented jacket.
